How does it work?

The CIT online delivery model provides both synchronous (real-time) and asynchronous (access anytime) teaching and resources to enable learning to take place anywhere at any time. The delivery model consists of:

  • Live Classes via the Adobe Connect live e-learning system
Lectures, labs and tutorials are streamed live over the Internet with each session being captured and stored for later review by students. The system also provides features such as full conferencing, breakout sessions for students, file sharing, desktop sharing, chat, polling, as well as a mobile app for Android and iOS.
  • Class materials & communication via a Learning Management System
All course-related resources are available to students via the Blackboard Learning Management System, which will allow student the ability to:
    • Access all course material (papers, reports, links, videos etc.)
    • View recorded Adobe Connect lecture sessions
    • Submit student assessment work
    • Communicate using asynchronous communication tools
  • Virtualised Desktops via CIT’s Cloud infrastructure
The private cloud infrastructure at CIT enables challenging remote labs to be delivered to students in any location. Students can access a CIT Virtual Desktop using fixed or mobile devices from home or the office and in doing so, gain access to all the software, systems and services that an on-campus student would experience.

Students will also have access to the standard resources made available to all CIT students, including access to the CIT library of E‐books and online journals, student email, etc. In addition to the above, third party tools are used as a “third space” for students to meet, chat and support each other.

All of the above offers great flexibility and at the same time this world-class state-of-the-art infrastructure allows students to learn at their own pace, 24 hours a day, every day.
