Project Description:

The ONTOHR project facilitated and built an ontology supported selection and training system in line with relevant HRM and Knowledge Management (KM) theories, employing existing educational technology such as Content Management Systems and adaptive testing

Project Description: 

Project aims to create and sustain a European network for increasing activity in game-based learning in education, this includes the development of a European Games-Based Learning portal.

Research analysis of the Manufacturing Engineering sector in the 27 EU member states (to promote excellence, efficiency and fairness of instruction), the results of which will be published on Lifelong Learning Manufacturing Portal  – LLMP.

Project description:

To build an online learning system for training organisations from 14 European countries.

The Role of Mobile Learning in European Education

Project Description:

Mobile learning is the provision of education and training on PDAs (Personal Digital Assistants), smartphones and mobile phones. The objective of this project is to bring this unprecedented ownership of mobile devices into European education and training. The main activities, which will result in the products of the project, are: development of a policy document on the role of mobile learning, an overview of the role of mobile learning in the 25 states today, listing of achievements of mobile learning, pedagogical aspects of mobile learning, adapting ILT and e-learning materials to mobile learning, the development, adaptation, teaching and evaluation of mobile learning courseware for real students


Project Title:

The Impact of New Technologies on Distance Learning Students

Project description:

This is a reference material project on the impact of new technology on distance learning students. The ultimate goal of the project was to provide a set of findings that help instructors understand the implications of various new technologies, including distance education, elearning, the use of the www and mobile learning for their students and to provide research-based principles on  how instructors can best use technology in their teaching.


Project Title:  

EPI - Educational Partnerships through ICT

Project Description: 

The mutual design and development of web-based curricula.  Experts from particular industries will be supported in articulating the skills and competencies of a competent worker in the workplace within a formal Higher Education qualification framework supported by a web-based platform which transparently maps activities, skills etc. into a hierarchical schema which builds ultimately into a syllabus and curriculum for a new, formally accredited course.


Project Title:

BiTe - Bridging the Gap between the traditional   and the eLearning Environment

Project description:

The BiTE project seeked to establish good practice for the conversion of traditional (i.e. face-to-face) learning material and methods for application in the new learning environment, placing particular emphasis on the need to build on existing pedagogical expertise in achieving this aim.
The main project activities will include the design and development of a new range of Web-based units of learning and related piloting and evaluation activities.


Project Title:

RAMIE - Researching Assessment Methods & Instruments for E-learning

Project Description:

RAMIE seeked to develop valid, reliable, repeatable and transparent online assessment methods to attract accreditation within formal qualification frameworks. The project, after an extensive review of methods used in face to face and e-learning environments, delivered a web-based pilot which integrated specific course work with an application of the new assessment methodology in a virtual environment which supported associated learning activities and the archiving of evidence required to assess these activities.

Project Description:

This project analysed the role and characteristics of virtual classroom educational provision using synchronous information and communication technologies.

SCALA - Support and Assessment of Community-based work-practice of Adult Workers for Learning and Accreditation

Project Description:

Countless numbers of adult activists across Europe take on significant leadership roles and are key contributors to the development of disadvantaged/under-represented communities - both geographically and/or issue based.  Through this work they gain considerable understanding, knowledge and competence both in core and specific skills areas.  This project seeks to maximise the effectiveness of their work, to optimise the learning they gain from it and to give them due recognition/accreditation for this learning while allowing them to continue their essential and irreplaceable contribution to community development.

Project Description:

Research and evaluation of the ADAPT initiative nationally to identify models of best practice and a set of policy recommendations for the establishment of a further and higher education provision optimally tuned to the requirement for continuing development of the workforce, primarily within the workplace.

Project Description:

The development of an Internet based interactive system for the accreditation of learning, the identification of   individual career paths and the provision of guidance on the basis of identified job profiles.  Initial research and user trials analysis were undertaken by DEIS.

Open Learning – TRAILS

Project Description: 

The activities of this project included the research of training needs of teaching/lecturing staff in the new learning environment generated by ICT and the design, delivery and evaluation of a training programme for the development, delivery and support of web mediated learning.  A total of 16 students undertook the pilot course, 12 from CIT result in these modules being available on the www via the Topclass learning environment across a range of subject areas.
