Hosting Academic Department: Media Communications
Please note that the closing date for applications on this programme is September 5th, 2022
Who is this course aimed at?
This programme is aimed at those wishing to pursue a qualification in the burgeoning e-learning sector to work as designers and developers for e-learning and learning technology units which are becoming mainstream in a number of other other sectors and workplaces, including, in particular, the broader education and training sector.
The programme is delivered entirely online using many of the same e-learning tools and technologies which also form the course curriculum. This means the programme may appeal to those who, for whatever reasons, cannot commit to attending regular face-to-face lectures and labs or who simply find the flexibility and convenience of studying at a distance attractive.
What skills will I learn?
Course co-ordinator Dr Gearóid Ó Súilleabháin talks about e-learning and the MTU MA in E-learning Design and Development on a recent episode of the “ByteSize” tech podcast. Click here to listen to the episode.
This programme was specifically designed to be delivered entirely online. Our online teaching model makes use of an online community for students and lecturers to communicate and our live synchronous environment allows students to attend lecturers live and view the recorded content at a time that is convenient to them.
Other Noteworthy Elements:
The MA in E-Learning Design and Development was shortlisted for a Grad Ireland Higher Education Award in the Design & Innovation category.
The programme was also shortlisted, through MTU's Department of Technology Enhanced Learning, for Best Online Learning Experience at the 2017 Education Awards.
