UDOIT Advantage

Our commitment to creating a more accessible and equitable digital learning environment led, among other things, to the integration of the UDOIT Advantage accessibility assistant in Canvas. UDOIT Advantage is the latest and most comprehensive offering from the developer, Cidi Labs, which helps staff to identify and address common accessibility issues with their courses and content. Together with other supports and training offered by TEL, UDOIT Advantage has empowered staff to provide a more inclusive experience for all students.

UDOIT Advantage is a module-level accessibility assistant designed to raise awareness of common accessibility issues and to help educators in improving the accessibility of their Canvas modules. It scans Canvas modules to identify these accessibility issues and provides resources and options for fixing these issues from within the UDOIT Advantage interface.

These common accessibility issues are based on the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines which is the standard for accessible digital content and provides results as a list of errors and suggestions. In addition, UDOIT scans course files and provides options for offering alternative file formats, e.g. MP3, ePub. Results can be filtered by what is easiest to fix or by content type, issue severity and issue impact, i.e. visual issues, auditory issues, cognitive issues or motor issues.
