Past Projects: Reusable Learning Resources (RLR) 2023/2024
Embracing Design Thinking Mindset for Engineers
Category: Workshop programme / Graphic design
Summary: A set of teaching and learning materials and tools focused on Design Thinking (DT) specifically for engineering students was developed. The team has previously identified the need for resources to cater to this specific user group through their ongoing work delivering DT workshops in academic and industry settings. The processes and mindsets associated with engineering can differ significantly in their outlooks and practices from those of DT (linear v iterative, system-centred v human-centred). This can present a challenge to engineering students new to DT.
In response to this, the team is developed a resource pack for MTU lecturers, workshop facilitators and students focused on bridging the gap between traditional engineering concepts and DT. The pack includes slide decks, facilitators guide along with worksheets and templates.
Nature of Reusability: Reuse of these resources is encouraged and they will be made openly accessible, with Creative Commons licences (most likely CC-BY-NC-ND) on the Nimbus website and through various OER repositories including the National Forum and the OER Commons.
